Artist Statement

Architecture has the power to transform our spaces, our lives and the way we relate to our environment.  As new developments change London, my physical understanding and experience of city life is changing. I am inspired by the ever expanding visual diversity being created in the city.  Dwarfed by its scale and amazed at the speed with which familiar sites are disappearing and being reinvented, it is important for me to take ownership of the reconfigured urban landscape through my photography, in order to retain a sense of belonging and identity. The powerful forms of the buildings express the corporate and creative powers that brought them into existence. They create a sense of awe and wonder, a new kind of ‘sublime’ within which the individual has to re-define their own place.
